It is commonly observed that people who suffer from stress or anxiety or are under some kind of depression, often get a very bright colored tip of the tongue. A person who is experiencing this condition should include vitamin B rich foods in his diet as they help in calming down the tongue. Foods such as brown rice, whole grains, beans and root vegetables are rich sources of vitamin B and hence should be taken regularly. Along with these, for stress relief, certain measures such as yoga and meditation should be undertaken by the person too. Vitamin B6 Deficiency If a person has a sore red tongue tip, the reason could be a deficiency of vitamin B6, niacin or iron in the body. If any of these essential nutrients is lacking in the diet, a person might get a sore red tongue tip. To overcome this deficiency, nettle teas or dandelion teas should be included in the diet, along with vitamin B6 rich foods such as brown rice, avocados, buckwheat, beet root and sunflower seeds. Intake of Acidic Foods Red bumps on tip of tongue could result from eating foods which are very spicy or acidic in nature. When people suffering from this condition, eat certain foods which are sharp in taste, they experience a burning sensation in the tongue. Physically, the top surface of the tongue turns red in color and becomes somewhat beefy. This change in color is due to the lack of filiform papillae, which gives the tongue its pink color and smooth appearance. In this condition, red colored patches develop on the tongue which have a distinct margin. On these red patches, the papillae are reduced.
